I (almost) never use the ubiquitous insulated terminals that are intended
to be crimped once, crushing and uglifying the plastic sleeve in the
process. I pull the stupid sleeve, use a heavy duty crimper (I have
appropriate dies for my West Mountain crimper), and put on a layer
or two of heat shrink to stabilize the joint. If I expect the
connection to be out in the weather, I lightly solder the open end to
avoid moisture entering the crimp. Even if it's airtight, it can't hurt.
