[Elecraft] MARS operation problem

Jack,
Transmitting between 7.5 and 9 MHz is not permitted because we have to
enforce a minimum frequency distance from the 8.2 MHz IF (and its
associated IF rejection trap on the KANT3 or KAT3 module). An excluded
first IF region is a fundamental limitation of a down-conversion
design. The TS-480 can transmit in this range because it uses up-
conversion; we used down-conversion to provide much better receive
performance and allow for narrow crystal filters.
The only way around it would be to use an external transverter. I can
give you details if you're interested.
The K3 will work well on all other MARS frequencies within its tuning
range.
