Hi Terry,
It works with mine.
When AGC OFF if you have a huge sig, i.e 59+ it block and you can't hear it any more, only see the bargraph. You need to use the RF knob and adjust in order to hear it agn.

Sorry I have `missed the boat` on this thread.
I use my K3 most of the time with AGC Off as I find this offers best 
weak signal performance. The AF protection, if I understand its function 
  correctly, does not seem to be operating on my receiver with AGC off 
despite the software update ... ?
