Not sure what you mean by "the feel".    Are you looking for more 
weight?  Are you worried that whatever handling you plan to give your K3 
will bang up its existing panel?  Do your K3 case panels flex when you 
handle it?

It remains to be seen how well the K3's rubber buttons hold up over the 
years, or whether the power pole connectors break with extensive mobile 
or portable use, but thicker panels wouldn't be my first choice as a 
tradeoff when considering a significantly lesser receiver.
