[Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net Report for August 9th & 10th, 2009

Good Evening,
   Both nets were good though the bands were weaker than they could have been.  QRN from summer storms along with QSB (non-reciprocal of course) were the order of things.  There were only a few reports of cooler weather from North Dakota, Alaska, and Oregon.  It seems California is going to scorch once again while East of the Mississippi there will be normal hot and humid August days.  However the sun is already moving northward significantly each day.  Winter is not really that far off.  The foxgloves are blooming near the end of their stalks, the hummingbirds have started their flight to lower elevations, and I have been finding elk sign more and more often as I gather my winter's heating material.

   If there are any errors or if you wish to add anything please email me.  As I sit here typing I am listening to an interview of a painter and a writer.  His specialty is water color paintings of trout and books about wildlife and the outdoors.  He is researching a book on eels.  I am tempted to drop him a note about my experience with the American eel.  As a boy my sister and I would sit by the creek and watch them each spring.  Then one year they were gone.  Not just fewer of them but none.  We missed them.  Forty years later I found out why.  They had built a dam fifty miles down stream blocking the migratory path of the eel.  I do miss living on a river or stream.  There is so much life passing by each day it is fun to watch the changing of the seasons.  On dry land the rhythms seem slower.
