I find the NR in the K3 not especially effective, and I almost never use 
it. 

And while I may be in the minority, I also couldn't care less.  I use 
narrow bandwidths, AGC THR = 008, and AGC SLP = 000 for both CW and SSB, 
and without ever using NR I can still pick out weak signals from the 
noise better than with any other rig I've ever had, especially after the 
recent AGC improvements that addressed the low level audio IMD issue.

If I had my choice, I'd reprogram the NR button as a register stack for 
a few AGC settings ;)
