Amen to all the above, brother!
It's the second thing that makes me crazy about the K3.
I think it of as 'Icom user' vs 'Yaesu user' (I'm the latter).
I guess I developed the habit with my first single-signal radio
(a 75A-4 on 20-10 meters in 1958 where the SSB was Upper).
I prefer to change bands from the radio, with software following (and I
also use Logger32).

ps: the first thing that drives me crazy about the K3?
The fact that the radio (and the amp) key when I'm playing with my paddles
and just wanna hear my own CW.
