I run either a K2, or more recently a Perseus, off the back of my K3.
With the K2, you do need the 160m option to avoid transmitting into the
K3 as per Vic's post. You can mute the K2 by setting the power to zero,
TX Test mode, side tone to zero, TX delay quite long, connect the K3 KEY
OUT to the Morse key in of the K2. Put the K2 on a small dummy load too,
just to be safe.

Using a hybrid coupler, or whatever they are called elsewhere, link the
two together. A couple of FT50-43 cores and a some enamelled copper wire
in a small project box with 3 BNC sockets will make you one in an hour
or so, no need to buy one. The diagram of the one I use is posted at:

If you have the KXV3 with the RX ANT OUT connection, you can feed the K2
from this. It would be best if you have the 160 M / RX Ant option on the
K2, because then you can use the RX ant input on the K2. You definitely
do NOT want to transmit into the K3's RX ant output!
