[Elecraft] K3 Encoder software problem?

Ran into this interesting problem. Encoder or encoder software?

K3 2.23/1.88 firmware Don't know about the lastest beta.

While operating the rig, suddenly tuning across a CW note produced jumps in
frequency rather than a smooth change. The "speed" used was two digits
displayed after the decimal point on the frequency readout. This setting
had never resulted in this "pan pipe" effect before. Switch to "fine' and
back to two digits after the decimal and the problem goes away.

Doing some digging, here is how it can be produced here.

1) While in fine mode, press and hold the "fine" button until one digit
appears after the decimal point.
Tune across a signal and one hears the pan pipe effect.
2) Now press fine button until two digits appear after the decimal.
Tune across a signal and the pan pipe effect is still there.

In all cases going to "fine" with 3 decimal places solves this. If one goes
directly from the three decimal display directly to the the two decimal
display all is always OK.

It seems like the 1 to 2 digit decimal change doesn't work properly.
