Good Evening,
It was pleasant to have two good bands this evening. Neither of them was very noisy and copy was pretty good. QRN was low and QSB was almost totally absent. It does sound like autumn is well underway across the northern tier of states except for Alaska. They seem to be a season ahead of us already with snow and colder temperatures. I have been told the almanac predicts a colder winter than normal. I'll just keep banging away on my woodpile. I plan to have an 'emergency' stack right next to the front door for when the snow gets really deep. Pushing a wheelbarrow through the snow and slush gets to be work so I will plan to lazy by preparing. Ant or grasshopper?
There were some very weak callers on twenty meters but when I tried to dig them out they disappeared. I did get a BK on 40 meters but never could get a response when I called. Oh well, I guess next week we can try once again. Dale mentioned going fishing today. His son caught his first fish. Sounds like a fun time for them both. He tried to trade me a cow for firewood though. I think I would rather give him the firewood to keep the cow! I had plenty of time tending to both ends of cows in Wisconsin. And plenty of time in the middle too! When the power went out we got to milk them by hand. Nothing like going to school after having milked twenty cows by hand. My fingers were numb and my arms were worn out. Luckily they rigged the tractor to run the compressor to feed the lines to run the milkers so we did not get to do that again. But it does make a good story to tell.

No, I cannot remember all your names; that is why I write them down ;) But the usual suspects do pop in and out of my memory on a random basis. Might have something to do with age related dementia. Or maybe I had too good of a time cutting wood this morning ;) Endorphins do have a way of calming one down and soothing the aches and pains. All this physical activity is doing wonders for me. However, I will need new pants because these are not fitting as well. Or I could rig them for suspenders and not worry about it.
   Until next week stay well,
      73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
