[Elecraft] K2: Vivat Rex

I often hear that old saw when people discuss QRP. However, I am not sure
it is true or particularly meaningful.
He gave me a 559 report before he knew I was a QRP station. If you do the
math, you will realize that if I was a 5 on his S-meter, 100 watts would
give him a 7 on his S-meter. It is hardly a lot of work to hear a signal
that is 2 S-units down. QRP on CW is not much of a handicap, and it usually
does not take any extraordinary skill to copy it.

Additionally, I have had many, many contacts with other QRP stations. This
has been in contests sponsored by the NAQCC, ARCI, and other QRP
organizations. Who is "doing all the work" when two QRP stations contact
each other over a long distance?

I have had some QRP contacts where the other station has shown incredible
patience and skill in pulling my signal out of the mud, and I am very
grateful for those excellent operators. However, that is not the norm.

73,

John, WA6L
