Good Evening,
The weather was quite nice here today. When I left my house for an ARES meeting it was sunny. Halfway down the mountain I dove into a cloud and was in fog until I broke through about 300 feet above the valley floor. Until I got back home again it was cloudy and a bit wet. The meeting went well as meetings go. Not much was settled but folks got to air their pet peeves :) Luckily I had no opinions one way or the other. They were discussing the balkanization of two meters and the digital modes. They never once discussed CW for some reason :)
Twenty meters was good this week when I was able to get on the air. There are no sunspots at the current time but some solar activity is due to strike the earth soon and give us some auroras. However, they rarely get this far south in the Pacific Northwest. They were much more prominent in Wisconsin which is closer to the magnetic north pole. I often saw the sky filled from horizon to horizon with waves and draperies of color. I wish I could have shown Pat some aurora filled skies. We came close once but she had to believe me more than actually know they were there. Very, very faint green on the far northern horizon while we were about a mile away from the house under very dark skies.
Please join us tomorrow evening.
