Good Evening,
The forty meter net went very well tonight. Asking the Flying Pigs for advice helped a great deal. I moved to 7047 kHz and was not bothered at all. The was the normal QRN, QSB, and some voice QRM but nothing untoward. The sun showed some activity which was mirrored in the propagation on twenty meters. Surprisingly enough I worked into Northern California on both nets. Normally I need a relay to work anyone north of LA but today stations were strong from all of the state.
Weather reports were normal except here on the Left Coast. It was down right HOT here the last few days. Luckily it has cooled nicely. I had to close some windows just now to keep from getting too cool. The breeze kicked up, clouds are coming in, and the temperature is dropping. Maybe we will get some rain soon. I hope so the fire danger is getting pretty high right now. And to think there was snow here two weeks ago! I expect to see the fire danger sign the next time I drive off the mountain.

It was nice to meet a few new folks tonight. Conditions were pretty good considering where we are in the sunspot cycle. A few spots from cycle 23 are making a difference. If there are any errors in the above lists please send me the corrections. You could probably hear my hand getting stuck on my desk a few times. I had to grab a sheet of paper to prevent it from happening. During the second net the temperatures were dropping so that was unnecessary. Currently it is getting chilly; I may put on a long sleeved shirt soon. But it is too nice to close all of the windows. After a winter with them closed I would rather be a little chilly.
When I went outside after the second net I found the red currants and the salmonberries were losing their petals. Hopefully the bees had a chance to pollinate them. The thimbleberries out back have yet to blossom. I think I get three or four of them a year. I would have to fight the birds for more but those I do get are very, very good.
Until next week stay well,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control 5th Class)
