I'm not sure where this calibration issue has come from. My K3 has a
very accurate S-meter based on measurements from a Marconi 2018 signal
generator. The firmware is MCU 1.96/DSP 1.73. My K3 has had the hardware
AGC modification done. I have the following parameters and results:
Menu parameters:
SMTR OF = 016
SMTR SC = 017
SMTR PK = OFF
SMTR MD = nor
Note calibrated for S9 = -73 dBm (50 uV) with the pre-amp off.
Measurements on 80m CW.
-13 dBm = S9 + 60
-33 dBm = S9 + 40
-53 dBm = S9 + 20
-73 dBm = S9
-79 dBm = S7
-85 dBm = S6
-91 dBm = S5
-97 dBm = S4
-103 dBm = S3
-109 dBm = S2
-115 dBm = S1
Give or take 1 dB or 1 S point, that's about as good as ANY S-meter I've
ever come across. Your calibration figures may not match mine.
