Greg, it doesn't matter how long I hold the TUNE button for - it doesn't
produce any power. The rig has never produced any power at all.
When the TUNE button is pressed for two or three seconds then VFO A shows zero
power - zero meaning 00 watts.
When the rig is in TEST mode there is no power out - as expected.
When the TEST mode is normal there is one bar showing on the rig RF meter.
During ATU TUNE there is five watts showing on the rig RF meter.
At no time is there any indication of power transmission on the Bird meter.
I've been trying to solve this problem since yesterday. I went through the
configuration very carefully before I reported the problem to the reflector
in order to ensure that it was not a simple mistake on my behalf.
No one on the reflector has made a suggestion that I had not already
condidered.
The receive quality on SSB is superb, as is the CW and AM, it is the best
receiver I have ever heard apart from the Drake R-4C which I have. But you
don't need me to tell you that.
In my opinion the only people who have the equipment and the knowledge to find
the fault quickly are working in your premises.
I may be wrong and it could be a simple error in configuration that I have
overlooked, I would be delighted if someone could inform me of that.
The current firmware has been installed three times in case there was a
glitch.
The rig was put together very carefully and slowly using an anti-static mat
and a grounded wrist strap. No problems were encountered - it is a masterpiece
of design. I have carfully assembled two K2's SN's 413 and 5901 without any
problems at all. I am currently using K2 5901 on CW and frequently receive
unsolicited comments on the quality of the tone. It is a fine little rig that
gives me great pleasure. I consider the the five month wait for the K3 has
been well worthwhile but now I am faced with disappointment and worry as to
how this issue is going to be resolved.
