Sounds like BS to me....   "Free, regardless of the number of packages your
sending", a quote from their site here:

http://www.usps.com/pickup/welcome.htm

Only catch is if their delivery is say 9A your package might not leave 
until the next
morning.  I have never used this service as I have a POB so am a regular 
at the
Post Office.
