My K3 s/n145 did need the mod. After some encouraging words from G4AON I've
just changed the cap and the difference in the waveform is substantial.
Previously the leading edge was very gradual and the amplitude actually
increased throughout the length of the element making it difficult to pick a
'full power' point with which to measure the rise time. The wave shape is
now symmetrical and level with both leading and trailing edges timed at
pretty much 5ms. As Dave G4AON has noted the keying delay has reduced
slightly to about 8ms but my Acom 1000 in qsk doesn't mind that.
