Thanks for the nice comments.

Here are some "answers."

1.  The hole in the FP shield is already there...you don't have to
drill.  Make sure you use the hole directly behind the REV button.

2.  For the "alligator" method, I pulled the red insulator off of the
alligator clip first and used just the insulator as my spacer.

3.  You do not have to remove the front panel.

4.  There is plenty of room for access to the area between the FP
board and the FP shield (see photo #3 of the slide show in the
previous email).  Using a long-nosed or needle-nosed pliers, firmly
grab the insulator.  Holding the length of the insulator/spacer
parallel to the FP and FP shield, lower it below the "lip" on the FP
shield. Center it behind the REV button (X and Y axis).  Then twist
your hand/pliers 90 degrees so that the spacer is now perpendicular to
the FP and FP shield.  Carefully position it behind the REV button.
If you're going to fasten it to the FP shield, carefully line up the
hole in the PE spacer with the pre-existing FP shield hole, then add
the 4-40 screw (just the screw - there is no "nut" involved).  The PE
really "grabs" the 4-40 screw, so you won't need a lock washer either.
 Use your pliers to hold the spacer in place while you insert the
screw (the pliers will prevent the spacer from twisting around the
axis of the screw as you tighten it).

ALSO.....

5.  Make sure you disconnect your radio from the power source first!!

6.  Use the usual ESD precautions, just to be safe.

If you drop the spacer (I did), it is easy to retrieve.  Just turn
your radio upside down or tip is sideways.  Since the K3 doesn't
weight 50 pounds like some other brands, this process is child's play
to do.
