My favorite Larson E. Rapp article was the one about the buried
antenna.  He had read in the Antenna Book that every dipole has an
"image" antenna an equal distance below ground.  So he figured you could
just as well put the real antenna under ground and then the image would
be up in the air.

I understand that some guy was actually digging up his yard before a
buddy clued him in.  :=)
