[Elecraft] New K3 Firmware: MCU 1.75 - So What? !

I took the latest firmware loader program and files
this afternoon. This was the second update to K3 since
I built it. Every time I do this, my confidence level
increases.

The loader program detects then initiates MCU and DSP
files transfer, lights blink at the K3 and then the
program says "complete".

Some might think - you loaded latest version - so
what?.

Sure there are new functions, you can see them on the
K3 display and try them out for the first time, but
everything you like about the K3 still works precisely
as it did before the update. (Well).

I don't have to wait for the K3 to "boot" when it's
turned on, it's instant. And I don't hold my breath
while the firmware is loading, it will all get in the
radio. (No USB complexity here means no Windoze
drivers to deal with).

And after the radio has been updated, there is no
worry that stuff that was good and important to me has
changed in a negative way.

Neither has my particular K3 ever required a reboot,
I'd have to look in the manual to see how to do it.

Sure, that's the way it is supposed to happen but it
doesn't by chance, only by hard work and following up
on any changes in the firmware with due diligence. Any
idea how hard it is to test something when "you were
not working in an area that would affect anything
else", or the changes were "relatively minor"?

That takes time, a test group, and the admission by
the coders that they are not perfect, there may have
been (something) where a relation to something unseen
was not accounted for in the task at hand. No mojo
(magic) at Elecraft, it's the hard work that's making
the joy of ownership a "10" at this QTH.

;-)
