Good Evening!
It was a wonderful day in the Coast Range of Oregon. Temperature got all the way into the low 70s. The only clouds I saw were out over the ocean. A light wind kept the air moving through the house. I had a fire going very low just to get the chill out of the place and Sam has cozied up to it. Keeping the windows open with a fire means I get some smoke now and then but it was not too bad. It got pretty warm in here toward the end of the second net but that happens because I am working. As soon as I am done I walk outside and all is well.
Conditions on twenty meters were loud to Northern California but did not seem to work well to the east. There was QRN on both bands. I expect it on 40 meters but it got loud early on 20. There were three new operators on the nets tonight. From reading their bios none is new to amateur radio. Compared to last week we had fewer K3s active. But that was more due to conditions. Well, except for Pete. He has to keep his remuda of Elecraft gear exercised or they get anxious and out of sorts. He rotates through them regularly. He has not been attacked by a rogue Elecraft rig in quite some time so I think it is a wise procedure.

I know I missed one serial number due to conditions. I kept pushing buttons and turning knobs and was able to drag out more information but missed the serial number. Oh well, there is always next week; hopefully conditions will be as good or better. Summer Fox hunting season is about to begin. Right after Field Day it will start on twenty meters. It should be fun considering twenty is better this year than it was last year. Good hunting all you hounds! Foxes, good luck to you too :)
If there are any errors in the above lists please send me the corrections. Now for me to dig into a new assembly language. Atmel makes some nice chips with a RISC processor. The language is highly orthogonal so it should not take too long to make my first LED blink. There are some good freeware C compilers too so getting productive should not take too long. Learning a new language is always exciting; getting an LED blink is more impressive than one might imagine considering all the ways things can go wrong!
   Until next week stay well,
      73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
