And the fact is most of the amateur radio oriented ones don't generate
lots of birdies. Here's the closing paragraph from a survey review
(QST Janurary 2000) of several amateur oriented switching power
supplies;

"For the majority of the casual fixed station and portable operators,
nearly any of the currently available switching power supplies should
provide acceptable performance. Carefully consider your operating
requirements and "weigh" your options."

The QST survey has more details about particular switching supplies
including the 23A sibling of the mentioned 35A  Samlex.
