[Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net Report for June 8th & 9th, 2008

Good Evening,
I just got back inside from a walk to calm my ears. Birds are singing, the wind is rustling the fir needles, and a woodpecker is hammering away. Forty meters was loud but not as bad as last week. In fact it was at about the same QRN level as twenty meters. The summer storm season is upon us which has caused some damage in the Midwest. I have not heard back from my brother yet. Hopefully he fared well through those storms. His farm house is at the bottom of a valley so he is protected by the ridges and the surrounded woods.
Propagation was good to the east. They were having very warm weather in the 90s. I also heard a similar temperature report from California. I, on the other hand, have been experiencing rain and cool weather. Most of the week the clouds stopped at the southern Oregon border. Today they were at the northern border for much of the day so it was sunny and pleasant. The long range forecast has rain until Thursday when we get a little sun again. My grass is going to require a scythe instead of my poor mower. Luckily the lawn is tiny so it will not take long to finish.

We have had quite a few K3 check ins. Today half of the contacts were with K3s. Now that there are a thousand of them out in the world I expect to hear more and more of them on the air. One of those K3 contacts today was with Carl who is a local VE. I need to look at my topo map to figure out how we worked each other so easily on 20 meters. He must be in a gap in the mountains so we were able to work ground wave. Much of Washington County is blocked from me because of the mountain on which I live.
Now that the days are longer it is pleasant to have more time outside. Soon it will be the dry season so I can be outside for most of the day. If there are any errors in the above lists please email me with the corrections.
   Until next week stay well,
      73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
