Good Evening,
This week the lupine have begun to bloom lower down the mountain. The false Solomon's seal are in full bloom up here while they are waning down below. 40 meters has been very active each day from 2000z onward. There are a few operators who enjoy running QRQ. It is fun to listen to them chatter away. Twenty meters has shown some activity but it has not been as good this week. I have been busy banging away on projects so have not done more than listen. If everyone simply listens by definition the band is dead. I will never know who may have responded if I had called CQ.
Today, on my way to town, I saw a doe and then her two fawns. They were the tiniest I had ever seen. I don't think either of them was 18 inches at the head! They knew just what to do when mom turned around and walked off the road. She must have been feeding them when I disturbed her. It was about 2 PM which is not a normal time to see deer since they are crepuscular by nature. However, the road is not very active on the weekend so they may have been bedding close to the spring which lies near the road at that point.
Please join us tomorrow evening.

P.S. I hope all the folks in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin were able to avoid the worst of the heavy weather today. I have sent a note to my brother but have not received a reply yet. Two large storms converged near his part of WI so I am concerned.
