In my case the motivation was simple: I wanted to save the $1000+ it would otherwise
have cost me to purchase a second-hand Drake R8B or JRC NRD-545!

Now if only we could get the synchronous AM detection upgrade, I'd be happier than
a pig in poop. (Nudge, nudge...)

 I'd been meaning to ask for a while; what is the motivation for those
of you who have ordered the general coverage receiver option? i.e. what
makes it worth the extra $129 ??
