the new version of the narrow filter; at the noise floor the filter is half the width it was before as seen in spectrogram.  Not only that, the top of this new filter, even at 50 cycles wide, is FLAT topped.  I imagine that is why it doesn't ring, and it doesn't.

I listened to a signal that was 25 DB over nine, coming from the whistle clean K3 of W7QC, and then of an S-1 DX station, which once tuned in seemed S-9, both were essentially without ringing.
