I identified every part and component and put them into bins,
plastic drawers with a pencil written note in the manual exactly
where everything was. I identified a few parts by elimination
at the inventory stage. By the time I heated up the soldering
iron, everything was in place, indexed and ready when I needed
them. I took a day or so to do the inventory and saw that some
fibre washers were missing - for the speaker no problem, but
they are used in the finals. Elecraft sent them to me before
I needed them. I finished my first and only K2, and the 160m
"option" in a few hours less than a week.
It has been over two and a half years since I built my K2 and
I made the point of doing a thorough inventory in mid 2005 on this
list. If I had tried to fly by the seat of my pants, picking
through an unsorted bag of bits, it would have taken me at least
three times longer.
