I can't answer your questions, but would like to make a comment:

I set my Orion the way you do, but what I really would like to see on the K3
that I ordered in Oct. is a volume control for the sub and main that works like
the one on the Yaesu FT-1000MP MK V that I Just sold.  That rig had a volume
control which mixed the Main and Sub audio in stereo with emphasis on the RX
that the knob pointed to.  For example, when centered, both had the same audio
volume.  Turning the knob left increased the Main and lowered the Sub and vice
versa.
