[Elecraft] Two Antenna, One Radio

On my K2/100 I currently use an all-band horizontal dipole as
Ant.1 and a dummy load as Ant.2. In the near future I will be
  putting up a Cushcraft R8 vertical - 40m to 10m - not very far
away as my main antenna, the dipole to be used mainly on 80/75
and 160 meters which the R8 does not tune. I have a good quality
2-port coaxial switch available for antenna switching. The
  switch grounds the unselected port.

The question: Is it better to put the R8 on Ant.1, and use the
switch to select between the dipole and the dummy load as Ant.2,
or to put both antennas on the switch going to Ant.1 and leave the
  dummy load on Ant.2?

I have experience co-locating VHF/UHF equipment but even after
55 years as a ham I have never had the luxury of two HF antennas
  for the same rig!

Comments from the folks with multi-antenna experience would be
  appreciated.
