Or look at the Elecraft assembly manual. A picture shows exactly how the
front panel mic connector should be positioned relative to the front panel
(Figure 37 on page 29 of the Revision D manual) and explains what to do if
there's any problem with it fitting as shown. 

If you haven't used this connector with other rigs, it's possible you
accidentally flowed solder into one the female connections, partially
filling it. In that case the socket won't seat all the way and there's not
much you can do short of replacing the connector.

If you built the kit, you might not have mounted the front panel properly
and fully seated the mic connector.  Go to
http://www.zerobeat.net/mediawiki/index.php/K3_Kit_Building and read the
tips under "Front Panel and DSP".  Check what is described about seating the
mic connector.
