Yes, being patient is tough.  Development in such an open environment  
can lead to grousing, but the increased feedback, compared to a  
relatively small number of testers, will eventually pay off with a  
much better design than if Elecraft had decided to freeze the  
firmware before releasing the K3.

I see a lot of similar complaints on one of the forums for Directv  
satellite receivers (I have been involved in some of their field  
tests).  It often seems like the developmental process is really slow  
(and sometimes it is) but I, for one, appreciate the visibility of  
what is happening (some of that is just the engineer in me trying to  
come to terms with being retired).
