   There is one PTT line inside the radio.  Thus, the K3 has no way of 
   knowing if you pressed a PTT button on your mic, a footswitch, or the 
   computer pressed it for you via DTR or RTS.  You specify to the K3 which 
   of three possible sources (front panel mic, rear panel mic, or line) it 
   should use for Tx audio, and it uses that source.
