And I was/am hoping for using this capability for both the main and
sub receivers simultaneously, which would require labeling of the text
packets.

   Yes. I haven't looked at exactly how this implemented yet in the K3
   Programmers Reference, but I was hoping there would either be
   something like the Auto Info (AI) command which would cause the K3 to
   spit out whatever characters had been received every second or so,
   inside a "packet" consistent with the output of other commands, or
   else there would be a command I could send to "poll" the K3 and get
   back whatever has been received since the last poll.

   The trouble with the current implementation as I understand it, is
   that it is fine for a simple terminal program but really cannot be
   integrated into a regular transceiver control program. Even my K2
   program that I am adapting, which does not try to control the radio at
   all, uses the AI command and polls the S meter to get an updated on
   screen display of frequency, mode and signal strength. I don't see any
   way to use the TT1 output in software that is designed to process
   strings terminated with a semicolon that always begin with a valid
   K2/3 two character header.
