Just got home a few hours ago. Let me add to the comments of the
others regarding the K3 and Elecraft at Dayton:
1 - The K3, in terms of looks and quality, is a world beater. The
way the controls feel, including the pushbutton functions
incorporated into some of the
knobs, is first rate. Also, the response of the displays to
control inputs is very quick and smooth, I put my deposit in before
Dayton,
and I should be in the July / August delivery bunch. I'll be
patient - it will be worth the wait.
2 - I was a booth volunteer and I wanted to thank Heather (sorry,
didn't get a last name) for being so friendly and making me feel at
home.
3 - I met Lyle, KK7P, the DSP designer and firmware guy - very
impressive. In fact, I bought a KDSP2, which uses Lyle's DSP design,
for my K2 while I was there.
4 - I got to meet in person both Tom, N0SS and Don, W3FPR. Both are
very nice and a lot of fun to talk to. I reminded Tom that I had worked
him during the Halloween event from Frankenstein, Missouri
(loved the QSL card). And, it was a real treat to talk to Don about
K2 and KPA100
things in general.
All in all, a very enjoyable Dayton. I'll be anxiously looking for
that notice from Elecraft that the K3 for me is on the way!
73,
Bill
