Good Evening,
    Another fine week has slipped past.  The weather here in Oregon has  
really started to turn.  My daffodils are almost done blooming.  Yes, they  
bloomed for almost two full months.  In the valley they've been gone for  
quite a while.  This week finally turned ours into seed pods.  There are a  
few left to pick for Pat so I'll get that done tomorrow before they are  
all gone.  I took a long walk today off the edge of the property.  There  
are quite a few strawberry and thimbleberry blossoms.  I don't have a  
chance against the critters but I do hope for at least a few for myself.   
I saw some very large elk tracks on my trip.  About eight inch diameter  
divots in the soil.  They broke a very nice trail for me to hike along.
    I did work on 20 meters a couple of times this week and it went very  
well.  A little QSB but not to the point of troubling copy; just  
noticeable.  I have listened on forty a little but have been too busy to  
do much more than that.  I've kept my solder pad quite wet for the last  
two weeks.  I know I said I would do that over the last winter but that  
tree  threw my schedule all out of whack.  Maybe this winter will be more  
relaxed :)
    Soon the dry season will be here and with that carpentry season begins  
for me.  It will be great fun getting this house repaired and my nephew  
trained in some new skills.  First we get to move my radio shack,  
electronics work bench and shelves containing test gear, plus a few of the  
computers back to their old location far from the woodstove.  Then we seal  
off the rest of the house and do some demolition.  Once we can see the  
outside world we get to replace the entire roof from rafters, to sheeting,  
to drywall, to &tc.  After we strip off the covering I'll know better how  
much of the structure needs to be replaced.  I may cripple in some framing  
if it's not too bad.  Otherwise I'll replace it.
    Tomorrow there are supposed to be some showers here but nothing to  
interfere with RF propagation.  The Midwest will have its normal  
thundershowers but hopefully they'll hold off until late into the forty  
meter net.  If all goes well we can have a few relays around the worst of  
the storms to help hear one another.  A few more dB would be nice so I can  
work into Florida unimpeded by very weak signals.  Maybe I should look at  
different headphones with more sensitivity.  That may prove the difference  
between good copy and a struggle to check you in.
