We chose 8215.0 MHz as a first I.F. because it's low enough to allow 
the construction of narrow crystal filters, yet high enough to provide 
good image rejection in an HF-6 meter transceiver. INRAD also stocks a 
variety of high-performance filters at this frequency, which made it 
easier for us to do initial test. We tested our conversion scheme based 
on this I.F. extensively and found that it's also excellent from the 
standpoint of minimizing spurious responses.
