[Elecraft] K2 microphone jack question

Sam,

It's very likely there's nothing to be concerned about.  Just FYI that jack
(J2 on Front Panel) did the same thing on one of my K2s.  Being a very fussy
builder, I finally decided to replace it last week since I had the rig apart
anyway to do some other work.  

The mic jacks are available through Elecraft Parts.  They cost about $10 -
$11 each.  I tried to "squeeze" the steel shell a bit with a pair of
waterpump pliers to see if I could stop the rotational looseness of the
plastic insert, but no luck.  (This is not a recommended procedure, but I
thought I'd at least try it since I had a new one on its way to me anyway,
and I already had the old jack removed from the Front Panel.)

The toughest part about replacing it is removing the old one from the Front
Panel.  It has 8 pins to desolder, and it's a bit risky doing that without
damaging a solder pad.  I used my Hakko 808 desoldering pump and removal was
not too difficult, but care must be exercized.

When you get the manuals for your rig, you'll find it discussed on p. 24,
(Rev. F 01/29/2004 in my case).

I just became the proud adoptive parent of K2 #2481. Not having built any K2
unit myself, and not having the manuals in hand yet, I have a question.

I noticed the mike jack has a just a little, left to right, rotational
slack. 
It's firm when you try to pull out or push in on the jack. Is something
loose inside that I should be concerned with? I peeked inside, and if I
don't have to dig my way down into behind the front panel, I'd really like
to put it off into the far distant future. ;-/
