[Elecraft] K2 and microphones

Tom,

I do have such an adapter.  I work on others K2s and must have 
microphones for testing that will work with any of my client's mic 
configurations.  All of my mics are natively wired for either the 
Elecraft or Yaesu configuration.

My 'universal' adapter is nothing more than a small enclosure containing 
something like the mic configuration header on the K2 Front Panel board. 
    The enclosure is large enough to mount a microphone jack and the 
output to the K2 is an 8 conductor cable with an 8 pin plug on the end.

I use a similar setup in the shack, but it is hardwired. it switches 
between 3 mics and includes the circuits to switch the soundcard audio 
for digital modes.

Even though my adapter is 'universal' (I use prewired jumper 
combinations), you can hardwire the connections needed in your adapter 
if your microphones are wired the same.  You can either choose to use a 
switch in the lines to multiple mics or to wire all of them and only 
plug in one at a time.

If you have RF in the shack, be careful to use shielded wire for the mic 
audio lines or you may observe 'funny happenings'.  Low level mic audio 
lines are subject to noise and RF pickup if precautions are not taken.
