Good Evening,
Another week has flown by. Already it is Saturday and I just got
started; where did it go? There were a couple days of sun and yesterday I
was outside for an hour in my t-shirt. I think spring may be here soon
since the snow has gone at this elevation. Rain is back this evening but
the border between sun and clouds is flirting with the mouth of the
Columbia River. Some days the clouds are in Washington, some days they
are down as far as California, and then there are days like today where I
can see the edge (sadly to my south however).
Even with no sunspots the bands have been very nice this week. Very
quiet so my advantageous location well out in the boonies is helpful for
hearing many stations. I hope that holds for both of tomorrow's nets.
Soon we will have the evening storms to compete with but for now we can
enjoy the peace and quiet of the bands. I have been pretty busy but
really want to get back on 80 meters before the storms begin. I wound up
there at the end of EQP and worked quite a few stations. None of them
were in EQP but I had some nice conversations as I was calling CQ EQP ;)
That is far better than my results on 10 and 15 meters during the Party.
In a word Zilch. Not a contact to be had. When that happens I always
check to see if the antenna is still up.
Hopefully tomorrow will give me a few hours of no rain so I can get out
the chainsaw and salvage one of my antennas. I found both ends but the
middle is under a stack of downed trees. I hope I can get through the
middle of them and recover an intact antenna. One end was pulled loose
from its guy but the other was attached to the tree which landed on the
house. I think it is in good shape and would like to get it up into a NS
beaming orientation by next week. Then I can switch between two wires and
maybe work into California more strongly than I can at the present.
Tomorrow:
1) Call by geographic area (East, All)
2) Hail signs (first letter or two of the suffix of your call)
3) NCS help (as well as QSP/QNP <relay> help)
Please join us:
Sunday 2300z (Sunday 4 PM PDT) 14050 kHz
Monday 0200z (Sunday 7 PM PDT) 7045 kHz
