[Elecraft] Latching relays

I am embarrased to admit it, but while being in to big a hurry to finish my KAT2 for Field Day I accidently touched one of the latching relays with my de-soldering iron and melted the outside corner. I have a spare, but would rather not replace it if I don't need to. I can't see any of the internal construction, but wonder how durable these relays are. Has anyone else had any experience with melting a relay housing? Is there any easy way to test the relays in circuit  before finishing the assembly of the KAT2? Thanks.
