They obviously feel threatened by a ham with superior skills. :)

The animosity exhibited even by some old-timers when the topic of CW  
comes up is amazing to me, especially in the context of  contest.  
Don't they realize that, in most contests, you get more points for CW  
contacts than for phone contacts?
