[Elecraft] Elecraft Linear Amp

Another good choice for a medium-power 6M solid-state amp is the TE Systems 
0552G, made in USA, a very robust unit that will put out 400W (1:15) into a 50 
ohm load. It runs cool without a fan at CW/SSB duty cycles, and will handle 
key-down carrier modes with the addition of a fan on top of the heatsink. Love 
mine...

For those with no familiarity with TE Systems, I gather that they do a lot of 
military contracts and do the ham stuff as kind of a sideline. (Somebody 
correct me if I'm wrong.) They don't advertise, they have no website, and 
vendors purporting to be distributors for them typically have no actual stock, 
so you might as well order direct from TE. Their phone number is (310) 
478.0591.

The chances of finding a used for sale on the ham market are slim. People tend 
not to sell them once they get them. I looked for a used one for a month 
before giving up and ordering a new one.

A good power supply for it is the Astron RS-70M, a big linear job that just 
sits there and works. A well-designed and filtered switcher would work fine, 
too -- I just have a love of the good old "big iron" types.  :-)
