Good Evening,
Another fun week. At least I was able to get on the air a number of
times. Plus today: I'd been searching for W9C and finally got them on 40
emeters. I am going to keep trying on 80 meters until I go to bed and
then put in a little time tomorrow to see if I can bag them on 20 meters.
I did hear them while working at the 911 center in Hillsboro but our
antenna tuner was on the fritz. I decided it was better not to try
sending with the SWR in the 8:1 range! In addition to that there was an
old Navy straight key on the Kenwood. It was set up with an 1/8 gap so it
was interesting to use it to say the least. I am more used to the J-38
style key than the big knob keys. I did use a sparkless one when I was
much, much younger but the knob always seemed to be in the way.
Today the bands seemed open (20, 40, 80) but a little weak. I was
hearing a lot of stations though; some GB, JA, and KL stations. Can't be
that bad if I am hearing into New England and thence across the Atlantic
into Great Britain. The KL station was stronger than the KA7 station he
was working. This was most likely because the 7 station was far too close
for me to hear well on 40. The noise levels were down so tomorrow's nets
may be rather good. One can only hope. But, since we made the time
change, results have been more than satisfactory.

     Please join us:
