The biggest problem with data modes on the K2 is getting the audio signal
in and out. Several people have suggested points in the K2 where you can tap
or inject signals. (see: the PSK section in "General Modifications" of
"LA3ZA Unofficial Guide to Elecraft K2 Modifications"

I use a MicroHam Microkeyer. This provides isolation, switches the mic input
to Line In (and back to you actual mic for SSB) and audio out of the K2 by a
simple mod. Works well. I defined data mode filters centered at 1500 Hz and
created filters for PSK and RTTY. Also, most digital software can trigger
the K2 to transmit by serial command so you don't need a PTT hardwire line.
