Thank you, Wayne, that's excellent.

One final detail: if any external device is using the TX INH input as a 
"Clear To Send" handshaking signal, then hopefully the CTS signal will 
be interpreted as "Clear To Send NOW", and the K3 will respond with the 
absolute minimum of internal delays.

(Sorry to beat this horse again, but I'm asking now because it affects a 
project that is already in the detailed planning stage. When the K3 
arrives, I'll measure the TX/RX delays myself, of course.)
