Warner,

That is quite normal.  The transmit signal chain does vary in gain from 
band to band, and is usually greater on 40 meters - the result is that 
less current is consumed for any given power level if the gain is 
higher.  The K2 power control circuit keeps the power constant even 
though the per band gain varies.

Another subtle (and somewhat related) observation  that can be made as a 
result of the power control circuits is that the power will stay the 
same as the power supply voltage is changed - if the power supply 
voltage is decreased, the K2 current consumption will increase to 
maintain the requested power output level.
