The K2 rejects the record button when set for a hand key, presumably for 
similar reasons to those that mean that computer morse readers are still 
much worse at distinguishing di's dah', and gaps than a human, even if 
the human can't recall the character as fast.

Simulating a paddle key has programming difficulties, in that one has to 
 
                                 get the right timing so that the next 
paddle operation is simulated when it is expected.
