[Elecraft] variable audio output on one year old K2

John,

480 ma is just about double the normal receive current. You do have
something wrong there.

You will just have to hunt for it, but remember that most everything in
the K2 runs cool to only slightly warm during receive - you may be able
to find out what is getting hot by examining for 'hot spots' with your
fingers. If you do find a hot area, we can help you localize the problem.

One place to start is to find out whether the 8T and 8R voltage rails
are behaving - check the collectors of Control Board Q1 (8T) and Q2
(8R). The 8T voltage rail should be zero during receive and the 8R rail
should be at 8 volts (+/- 10%).
