It would take a pretty serious battery to power the K3, given a typical
minimum RX-mode current drain of 0.8 to 0.9 A. With a subreceiver
installed, there may just be room for 10 C cells, broken into two
4-cell packs. I'm hoping to offer an enclosed [safe!] fuel cell as an
internal option someday ;)

The K3 has two large, quiet fans on the 100-W compartment. They are of
a standard size (HxW), and if necessary, they could be replaced with
much deeper units, thus avoiding the aesthetic compromise from adding
fans on top of the box. That shouldn't be necessary.

We haven't determined final duty cycle ratings, but given the larger
fans and larger heat sink, I'm expecting it to come in higher than the
K2/100.
