[Elecraft] K2 "Nearly" Dead following SSB module installation

Steve,

One of the common causes of your condition is one of the tiny toroid RF
chokes shorting ot the crystal cases. Slide a piece of paper alongside
the crystal case to serve as an insulator - if that corrects the
condition, rewound the toroids with new wire and be careful to avoid
scraping the enamel while winding (do not pull the wire through the
center, form it around the core on the outside and feed (push) the wire
through the center, when the turn is complete, snug it up with a gentle
tug).

If you find nothing wrong with the RFCs, check the soldering on the end
of the board with the crystals, be certain the headers are well soldered
to the RF Board, and check that the diodes are properly located and the
cathode ends are pointing upward on all diodes.
